Concept
This project is going to explore how clothes’ forms can be in the virtual world, and will they evolve into creatures and have their own lifes in the virtual world. Without the limitations in the physical world, the human body can be any shape instead. Clothes which are supposed to attach to the human body can have more dramatic shapes. The project will examine the life of clothes by creating one growing cloth that focuses on the topics of mutation, infection, and devouring.
Since clothes are considered just as consumables in daily life. Workers do different damages to their clothes everyday. Severe damages can even destroy the original shapes of clothes. When people grown up, their clothes will be tight and throwed away. What if the clothes can grow and do damage to anything it attached? Are they becoming new creatures? Are they still clothes?
How to made
Houdini is a software perfect for creative coding and organic growth. Combining with 3D-modeling in Blender, the final outcome will be both delicate and animated. Sketching is always the first step to have a general idea of the visual element of the project. Things last are all about learning and imagination.

Final Progress
- Learning Houdini following the tutorials:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RknnhmOHlOg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoPVLm7PswY
- Create 2 growing demos ready to apply
- Consider the way of rendering
- Curently following this tutorial and will develope better outcome after finishing this: https://helloluxx.com/products/training/learn-houdini-in-bloom/

Midterm Progress
- Finish Sketching and have a general idea about the visual effect.
- Redefine the workflow and determine which software to use
- Start learning Houdini and revise the timeline

Updated Timeline
- Week 9: Final 160A: demos in Houdini and some part of animations created
- Week 10: Finish the tutorial and start apply demos to 3D models
- Week 11: keep modeling and making animations, learning new thing if needed
- Week 12, 13: Finish modeling and coding in Houdini, start learn and apply rendering by using different softwares like Redshift3
- Week 14: Begin Scene Design if finished 3D modeling and Animation
- Week 15: Midterm Crit + Rendered the model and generate video
- Week 16, 17: Debug, improve, and reevaluate if there is time for scene design in UE5
- Week 18: Install in Gallery Space
- Week 19: Final Presentation
